Eyelet Galloons & Insertion Lace

Eyelet Insertion Lace

Eyelet insertion lace has two straight, finished edges designed to be set directly between two pieces of fabric, joining them with a band of broderie anglaise cutwork rather than a trim along a single hem. It is a classic technique for lingerie, christening wear, blouses and home linens, letting a maker introduce openwork embroidery mid-panel rather than only at an edge.

AnBella Designs sources this eyelet insertion lace as European deadstock, sold by the metre alongside coordinating eyelet edgings, trims and fabric from the same production runs. Designers, ateliers and home sewists use it to break up a plain panel with a band of embroidery, working within the limits of what stock remains from each rescued mill run — once sold out, that particular design will not return.
